Can Two Thule Hullavators Be Mounted On The Roof Rack Of A 2025 Subaru Outback Wilderness

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 01/28/2025

Question:

I am wondering if I can put 2 Thule Hullavators and carry my 2 kayaks at once on a 2025 Subaru Outback Wilderness. The Subaru Outback website says the Wilderness roof rails has 200 lbs dynamic maximum capacity. The kayaks are 45 and 46 pounds. I believe the 2 hullavators would be 80 lbs combined and the kayaks would be 91 combined for well under 200 lbs total, but dont know if you would need extra parts to add to the subaru rails or anything that would put it over weight. Thank you for helping me be extra cautious... :

Hi Leon,

The math on your weight checks out but each Thule Hullavator # TH898 would require 28.5" of crossbar space for a minimum crossbar length of 57". You'll also want to verify that the crossbars overhang the towers by 4" to 8" and are spread at least 24" apart.

If you find yours don't meet the fitment requirements of the Hullavator then let me know and I can recommend some crossbars that would be compatible.

I've attached a picture below from the reviews showing someone else who mounted two Hullavators on their Subaru.

Hey Leon, how did things go with fitting the two Hullavators on your Outback’s roof rails? Were the crossbar length and spread enough for both carriers? Your update could make it easier for others planning a similar kayak setup.
