Replacement Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup on 2007 Holiday Rambler Savoy

Question:

I have a 2007 Holiday Rambler Savoy Fifth Wheel that I use when I work out of town. It has a 15000 btu Carrier Air-V, with a remote thermostat that controls A/C and gas heat. I would like to replace it with the Advent unit that works, with quiet start and a heat strip. What items do I need ?

Hi John; we have several different Advent Air systems that are compatible with your Carrier setup. The one thing you need to do is make sure that the control box is not built into the existing AC. As long as it is on the air distribution box it will work. We have the standard unit and the new low profile models available. They all come with the star capacitor, and the heat strip # ACMHD is available separately. You can choose from the following:

-Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup - Start Capacitor - 15,000 Btu - Black # ACCAR150B

-Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup - Start Capacitor - 15,000 Btu - White # ACCAR150

-Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup - Start Capacitor - 15,000 Btu - Black # ASA28YR

-Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup - Start Capacitor - 15,000 Btu - White # ASA38YR

@JohnL do you have the model number? You can use that to look up the manual which typically shows the location of the control box. If you have a silver metal box with wires running into it attached to the air distribution box it is safe to say it is not built into the actual AC unit on top of the trailer.

@RobinH Would the metal box be visible looking thru the exhaust vents at the A/C, or by removing the filters and looking from inside the rv ? The indoor clg grill has controls to operate the unit manually.

@JohnL you might be able to see it through the vents but I don't know. The big vent you see from inside is the air distribution box so if you take that down it will be pretty obvious if it is there. I just looked through a Carrier AirV service manual and it looks like all of the models have it in the air distribution box. I'm guessing this is true for yours as well but I can't be sure without a model number.
