Can Trailer Light Grounds Run To Main Ground on 4-Way Wiring Harness
Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/24/2024 >
Question:
If my utility trailer wiring harness has a full length white wire, do I still need to ground each individual light or can I just attach it to the white wire?

Hello Mark; you can run a jumper over to the main ground wire if you want to. However, if some of your lights aren't functioning properly I would go ahead and ground them to the frame unless it is aluminum.

Hey Mark, how did things go with grounding the lights on your trailer? Did connecting them to the main ground wire solve the issue or did you end up grounding them to the frame? Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same wiring setup.
