Will 12V PWM Filter Solve Signal Loss Problems for Camera in 2022 Toyota Tundra Limited

Question:

I have a 2022 Toyota tundra limited I plug in the camera with my cigarette lighter and the picture s off after about a minute Will this adapter work?

Hi Tony; the 12V PWM Filter for RV Backup Camera Systems # VGR64VR makes sure your camera gets consistent power so you don't lose the signal. This is designed for vehicles equipped with PWM which is typically Chevy and GMC trucks.

We do have a few instances where Tundra owners asked about this. However, we also have customers saying their camera worked for a Tundra and not for their Chevy/GMC. What I'm saying is I'm not confident this will fix your issue since I believe your Tundra has normal 12V power and not pulse width modulated DC power. You can check with your dealer to be sure.

If you have PWM then it is probably the reason for your problem and the filter will solve it. If not, you have other things to troubleshoot. I don't know what camera system you have but I would check the 12V wire at the camera to make sure it is in fact getting enough power. If not, check at the 7-way on the back. From there you can narrow down the problem and look for a short or anything else that might cause a loss of power. I would also make sure it doesn't have some kind of sleep/time out feature where the monitor shuts off after a minute since some do.
