4-Way Works On 2016 Ford Escape With Tester But Has 0 Voltage When Connected To Trailer
Question:
Hello I purchased this part in 2019 for my Ford Escape 2016. Everything worked perfectly as of last summer. But I am having a strange problem with my harness power now. I tested the connector with a small tester and all the lights work on the tester and I verified that the 3 connections brakes, turn signals are all sending 12v. I verified my trailer and another trailer with a 12v battery and another vehicles trailer connector. both trailers are working as they should. But as soon as I plug in to my Ford Escape there is no power at all at the connection. So far I redid the ground on the Escape and still no lights or power at the connection on either of the trailers. The fuse in the yellow cable at the battery looks good and I did change it just in case. and I replaced the 4 pin on the escape as it looked a bit corroded Still no change power looks good 11v off-12.6v when car running to all three pins when trailers not connected, s to 0 when either trailer or tester connected. Thanks for any advice!

It sounds like the actual converter box on the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118566 has gone bad. Since you have power when testing this is likely a small amount of voltage which is able to light the very low amperage needed for most testers. But when you connect the trailer which has multiple lights there is not enough amperage being supplied by the converter box to the trailer. As this only has a 1-year warranty and you have had it for over 5 years you will need to replace the entire assembly.
