Confusion About Door Width Measurements and Fold Up Steps
Updated 06/15/2024 | Published 06/08/2024 >
Question:
Hello, My door opening is 29 3/8 wide. Round that up to the nearest inch which is 30. If I buy the 30, but the opening is really only 29 3/8, doest that mean my steps wont actually fit when stored inside for storage? Should I get the 26 model so they can be stored inside. If I do, will the latch to hold them work with a couple of inches on each side? Thank you, Im so confused!! Maryann

For the fold up RV steps they will typically have you measure the door but on a lot of them they are referring to the rough in size of the door. So for a door like yours which has a 29-3/8" measurement of flange to flange it is going to be a 30" door rough in. A lot of the time the door frame size is listed on the tag for the hinged side of the door and this is a method to find your door size. This is why you will see both dimensions listed for the steps as not all doors are going to have the tag still on it.
If you can verify the height of your inside floor from the ground along with the height of your door threshold and the measurement between the threshold and the bottom of the screen door I can verify the correct set of steps for your particular RV.
