Question:
Is there a swing away adapter, even from another company, that will work with this Saris Door County rack? Or would the end result stick out too far back from the van due to the added length of such an adaptor? Perhaps the Wilco Hitchswing?

Expert Reply:
Because of the high weight and per bike capacity of the Saris Door County Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # SAR42RR it hasn't been tested with any swing-away style hitch extenders. Hitch extenders reduce the capacity of the trailer hitch by 50% so this will typically reduce the capacity too low for it to be useful anymore. Physically the # SAR42RR could fit into an adapter like the # SAR36VR, but it has a per bike capacity of 35lbs total capacity of 250lbs (bikes and rack). If you have a vehicle with a 350lb TW capacity (typical capacity for most vehicles with 2" hitch) then you'd be limited to 175lbs total, and with the weight of the rack being 63lbs you'll be very limited.
Since we don't offer the Wilco Hitchswing I can't speak to its abilities and recommend you reach out to the manufacturer.
