Will The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13077 Be Compatible With Thule Bike Rack On 2017 BMW X5?
Question:
I am interested in installed the Curt 13077 receiver for my 2017 BMW X5. I currently have a receiver hitch mounted on my 2010 BMW X5 that I use with my Thule model 515-0109 bike rack. The bike rack has a smaller hole that mounts into a 2nd hole on the receiver on my current hitch. I have attached a picture of my current hitch and circled the hole that it mounts in. Do you know if the Curt 13077 receiver will work with the bike rack that I have? Thank you.

Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13077 will allow you to carry your Thule bike rack on your 2017 BMW X5. The additional hole you have on your current receiver is something Draw-Tite did for several years which allowed for a j-bolt anti-rattle hitch pin to be used. Draw-Tite discontinued including this hole on their receivers in 2021 so you will not be able to have this same feature on a new receiver.
I recommend installing the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter Kit # C56190KIT when you install the receiver. This will give you a 4-way flat connector which allows you to connect to the lights on most small trailers you may tow. It will also allow for Auxiliary Lights # C53201 if your bike rack impairs the view of your tail lights for other drivers.
