Question:
I have a 2004 GMC Savana conversion van and I want to make sure I get the correct trailer hitch for it. I used the search tool, but all the hitches seem to indicate that they may not work for the bare chassis version, but I dont know if my van started life as a regular van or a bare chassis. Could you help me based on the VIN? 1gdfg15t541153502

As long as you have your standard passenger seats, or perhaps benches, you have a passenger van. We don't have a way to look this up using your VIN. If it looks like the passenger van with nothing in the back because it is used for cargo then it is a cargo van. If you have a Savana that is a bus or box truck or anything else not resembling a van it is the cutaway chassis model.
More than likely you have your standard passenger or cargo van. Assuming that is the case, you can use the Curt # C15320 you were looking at. You can also use the etrailer # e98861 which is what I recommend. This is identical to the Curt but it will save you some money and comes with a matte black finish. If you have the cutaway chassis model you will need a universal weld-on hitch like the # 41990-07.
I have attached an installation video below for your reference. If your van looks like the red van we installed this on (with the exception of the color) then the custom-fit hitch will work. If you still aren't sure, feel free to send me a picture and I will help you identify the right hitch for your vehicle.
