Powering A Winch In My 2016 Ford Explorer

Question:

Have a 2016 Ford Explorer that has a factory installed additional electric outlets including a 110-volt outlet in the rear console. There is also a 12-volt cigarette style outlet by the rear hatchback which owners manual states is for 12-volt accessories but not to exceed 15 amps. Would this outlet be able to run a 12-volt 2000-pound winch with the power lines from the winch connected to the proper cigarette style plug in? Thanks for your time.

The Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch - Wire Rope - Roller Fairlead - 2,000 lbs, part # 1120210, you attached to your question draws 100 amps, well beyond the 15 amps provided by the 12-volt cigarette lighter in your vehicle. You will have to connect this winch directly to battery of your 2016 Ford Explorer as they usually require at least 440 cold-cranking amps and a 60-amp alternator.

I have included an article about wiring winches below.
