The Tekonsha # TK90160 Primus brake controller you'd looked at is a good place to start. The reasonably-priced brake controller would work great for you.
You'll also need a functional 4 pole trailer connector to access the taillight wiring circuits for the trailer. I'd recommend the Hopkins # HM11140244. In addition to that, you'll need our # ETBC7 brake controller install kit. The kit includes everything needed but the brake controller itself and the functional 4 pole trailer connector. The kit includes 25 feet of duplex cable which might not be long enough for the Transit. You'll need enough wire to reach from the rear bumper to the battery then into the passenger compartment. If you need additional wire, we sell it by the foot as part # 10-2-1.
