How to Tell if Shock Absorber on Titan Model 60 Hydraulic Brake Trailer Coupler Needs Replacement
Question:
I am rebuilding my Dico/Titan Model 60 surge drum brake actuator. I am replacing my brake master cylinder assembly, including the spring/push rod. Is there a procedure to bench test the shock absorber to determine need for replacement, before reassembling actuator and re-installing on trailer? Thanks.

According to Dexter Axle, who purchased Titan a few years back there really isn't a definitive method to bench test the shock absorber used in the Titan Model 60 coupler. If you can easily move the shock by hand, it's worn to the point where it should be replaced. It should take a significant amount of force to move the shock.
Should it need replacing, the # T2336200 replacement shock would be the proper replacement.
