Recommended Flat Towing Setup For 2021 Jeep Wrangler JK 2-Door

To flat tow your 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2-Door you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.

Starting with the Base plate kit I recommend going with the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5 assuming that your Jeep has the factory plastic or steel bumper. This base plate kit has removeable arms so that when you are not flat towing the arms can be removed and the base plate kit will blend in well to the front of your Jeep.

For a compatible tow bar I recommend going with the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522 which has a 6000lb towing capacity which is perfect for your Wrangler. This tow bar features non-binding arms so that you will have an easy time unhooking the tow bar even if your Jeep is parked on un-even ground.

Next you will need safety cables, and tow bar wiring which is all included in the RoadMaster Falcon 2 and Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit with Straight Wiring # RM-9243-1 along with locks to secure the tow bar to your vehicle, and a storage bag for when the tow bar is not in use.

Most states require you to have a supplemental braking system, but even if the state you are in does not it is a really good idea as it keeps your tow vehicle from having to stop the extra weight of your Jeep, and reduces the wear and tear on your tow vehicle. I recommend going with the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR due to it being very easy to install, and since it gets completely removed when you are done towing you can use it in multiple vehicles if needed. For the install you will also need the 12v outlet kit # RM-9332.

Lastly you will likely need a high-low adapter to level your tow bar to your tow vehicle so I have included a link to a helpful article that goes over measuring for the correct adapter, and a link to all of our high-low adapters for you to look through.

It is also a good idea to check the recreational towing section of your vehicles owner's manual to find any flat towing restrictions, and for any special steps needed to make your Jeep ready to be flat towed.
