Question:
I have purchased a drawtight 9480 hitch and it does not set flat in the bed of my 2002 Dodge ram 3500 8 foot bed. I saw on another site that a customer had to ream out the holes for the bandw pin which I do have and another customer had to use shims for the hitch to work. Do you know anything about this? The square shaft is holding the hitch up. I sent this question to them last week but they have not answered.

Yes, your DrawTite 5th wheel hitch adapter Item # 9480 comes with stabilizer strips (shims) that go beneath the legs and run inside the groves of your 2002 Dodge Ram truck bed. They're provided to give the hitch a more level riding surface but you do have 3/8" of play when your hitch is not in use. That will be absorbed once you get the pin weight from the trailer on the hitch it. I have linked the installation instructions.
