I'm assuming you're speaking of the vehicle manufacturer's brake controller pigtail that was included with the vehicle.
Turn on the vehicle ignition and plug the harness into the connector under the dash. One wire on the harness should show a constant 12-volts which would connect with the black wire on the pigtail provided with the Tekonsha P3, part # 90195. Another of the harness wires should show power only when the brake pedal is pressed, attach that to the red controller wire. Of the remaining two wires, one will be the ground, the other will be the brake output.
Use a test light like # PTW2993 and probe the 12V wire you found earlier. Try grounding the lamp to both remaining wires. The wire that lights the tester will be the ground which attaches to the white brake controller pigtail wire, the other would be the brake output wire which connects to the blue wire on the pigtail.
I'll link to a video showing how the Tekonsha # 90195 P3 brake controller works.
