Recommended Replacement Bolts and Springs for a 1961 Avion T-27 Tandem Axle Trailer
Question:
I took a broken leaf spring off my 1961 Avion T-27 yesterday. I notice the shackle bolts have a castle nut with a cotter pin, as well as a zerk fitting. Do you have those kind in stock or can I just use the ones you offer with lock nuts? Also the leaf spring is six leaf on a 3500 axle. It measures 26 inches eye to eye....but is 60 years old so may have stretched a bit? What leaf springs/bolts can you recommend for me? Thank you.

We can definitely get you replacements for your 1961 Avion trailer. That being said, the closest spring we currently carry will be the Universal Group # e59SR. This is rated for a 3,500 pound axle, but will be a 3 leaf spring and is only 23-1/8 inches long. In order use this, you would need to replace the front and rear hangers with something like # 115917.
The Shackle Bolt and Lock Nut # 166081 will also be what I suggest to attach the springs to the hangers. We currently do not have wet bolts to match the size and usable length of these.
