Weight Distribution Hitch For 4,000 lb GVWR Camper Trailer

Question:

Are all wd hitches created equal? New to hauling a camper. Previous owner gave me a hitch that was “extended” and welded in place, because his truck sat higher, see pictures. I have a 2017 Titan and it does not sit high. I have drug this hitch twice on the road in the past two weeks. I would rather buy the receiver piece an not have to install a whole new wd hitch, unless it would save me a decent amount of money. Camper is very light 4000ish lbs gross weight. 2500ish dry. The ball is 2” so I probably don’t need the biggest baddest thing on the market. I have always found your website full of info but I have been swamped with work and have not had time to drill down and research a whole lot. Planning on camping next weekend and I would like to have this resolved before then. Thanks

Thank you for the photos they were really helpful, and you will need a new weight distribution hitch due to the shank being welded onto the head unit. While I realize it's not idea, the reason for that is parts aren't interchangeable between manufacturers. So what I recommend for your 4,000 lb GVWR camper is a weight distribution hitch from Fastway:

- Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-0600

This Fastway system is easily the best value among weight distribution hitches, with a unique combination of relative cost-effectiveness and high quality. The e2 is also easy to set up because of its clamp-on brackets, especially compared to systems that use chains, saving you a lot of of time.

It has outstanding sway control created by friction at two points on the brackets and is going to give you a much more controlled, safer ride than other options. As you can see by the hundreds of reviews on the product page, our customers who have used it have given it a nearly 5-star rating. It comes with a shank but you will need a hitch ball as well:

- 2" Hitch Ball # A-90

I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well of the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-0600.
