Replacement Rubber Cradle Strap for Rhode Gear Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack

Question:

The carrier strap I have off of a Rhode Gear spare tire carrier is 8 1/2 inch long. Has 8 holes that are 5/8s of an inch wide. I am having trouble finding a strap with the 5/8 inch hole. Does part number Y02412 have holes that wide or is there an alternative? I would need 4 of these. Many thanks.

Thank you for providing a photo of the RhodeGear bike cradle strap you are looking to replace.

The Yakima replacement rubber strap you were looking at, part # Y02412, is a set of two straps. Overall length tip-to-tip is 9 inches and hole diameter is 1/2 inch.

It may be possible that your existing strap has stretched from use; typically rubber-based compounds will stretch from age and wear and will tend to fit more loosely after they have been in service. Please take a look at the included video which shows the amount of stretch in a brand new RhodeGear strap. When under tension the holes in the RhodeGear strap enlarge significantly. The same is true for the Yakima straps.
