Question:
There seems to be conflicting information on this part. I see at least two references to a tongue weight of 525 lbs, but one reference to 350 lbs. Which is the correct tongue support weight? I want to make sure this is going to be able to be used as a Class II hitch for 3+ bicycles. Thanks,

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12100 you were looking at for your 2018 Subaru Forester is a Class II hitch with a 350lb tongue weight rating and a 3500lb trailer weight rating.
For a hitch that has a 525lb tongue weight rating you would need the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # CU64FR instead which is a Class III hitch with a 525lb tongue weight rating and a 3500lb trailer weight rating.
With that said the # C12100 can still be used to carry 3 bikes using a bike rack like the Thule Hitching Post Pro - Folding Tilting 4 Bike Rack w Anti-Sway - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # TH934XTR. The only hitches limited to 2 bikes are class I hitches.
I included videos showing each of the products mentioned being installed on a Subaru Forester for you to take a look at.
