Best Roof Rack And Kayak Carrier With Load Assist For Hauling 2 Kayaks On A 2013 Honda CR-V

Question:

I’m interested in purchasing a car top carrier that will transport two 10 foot kayaks. My vehicle is a 2013 Honda CRV that has the factory rails running down each side of the roof. There’s 4 openings along each rail that looks like something could be screwed or bolted into. Being older, I need an assist system to help with getting the kayaks onto the car roof and locked into place. Could you please give me your recommendation with a brand and type of carrier system I need? I’m not sure if the factory rails are designed to support a car top carrier, but assume that they are.

For your 2013 Honda CR-V with factory roof rails I recommend going with the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars Silver - 53" # TH711400 along with the necessary Feet # TH460R and Fit Kit # THKIT3118. This kit will install onto the 4 mounting locations that you saw on the roof rails. This will give you a really nice aero crossbar setup that has a T-slot channel in case you want to install channel-mounted accessories at some point in time.

For your two kayaks, I recommend Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier with TelosXL Load Assist # MPG114MD-351XL. This comes with a load-assist and one kayak carrier so you will need to add a second carrier # MPG114MD. This is a really nice and affordable setup which will greatly help out with getting your kayaks onto the roof rack. I attached demonstration videos for you to check out.
