Does T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness 118509 Need Power Wire Run Directly To Vehicle Battery?

Hello, I am considering installing the following on my 2008 VW Touareg, and this question is about the Wiring Harness installation. I saw the video on installation, and the initial part hooking it up to the real tail lights looks fine, but the second part routing the wiring under the vehicle up to the battery terminals under the good seems a bit more complex and I dont have the convenience of a lift. Now the 2008 Touareg has to alternatives, and I wanted to see if you felt either was valid? 1 running the wiring to the front drivers seat where the battery is under the seat, and 2 the 2008 Touareg has two 12V outlets in the rear hatch area, so why not use them with a 12 volt outlet wire run to under the tire well where the other wiring is done? Please let me know? Many thanks.

The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118509 you were looking at for your 2008 Volkswagen Touareg needs to be run directly to the vehicle battery as shown in the included video and installing it in a different matter can void the warranty of the harness.

The reason for this is connecting it to an existing circuit like the 12v outlets mentioned can overload that circuit and cause you to blow that fuse making you lose trailer lights, or worse, damage the module.

The # 118509 needs a dedicated circuit using the included fuse to keep from overloading your vehicle wiring, and to make sure the 4-way connector has the power it needs.

While it definitely takes a little more time running the wire to the front of the vehicle when you do not have a lift, it is something that needs to be done.
