Replacing Axles Or Replacing Brakes/Bearings On 2006 NuWa Discover America 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have some ne r lube hubs on my 2006 Nuwa 5th wheel, looking at all the options for doing brakes and bearings vs replacing the axles. My question is, do I need to change wheels too since the nev r lubes are set up for 0 offset?

I would be happy to go over the replacement brake/bearing and replacement axle option for your 2006 NuWa Discover America 5th Wheel Trailer.

Unless your axles are currently damaged, or for some reason use an obsolete bearing combination I would stick with just replacing the brakes and bearings as that will be much more cost effective.

To determine which brakes and bearings your axles use we will need to find the axle rating of your axles, and the bearing combination of your spindles.

The axle rating can be found on the axle tag located on the center of the axle.

Moving on to the bearing combination the easiest way is to remove one of your hubs and look for the bearing numbers stamped in the face of each bearing as shown in the included picture of the # L44649.

If your bearings are worn to the point that you cannot read the bearing number you will need to use digital calipers like # PTW80157 to precisely measure your spindle according to the included diagram.

Regarding axle replacement you would need to still know the axle rating, and would need to know the hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center measurement of your current axle.

For example the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 95" Long - 3,500 lbs # 7359765 has a hub face to hub face measurement of 95", and a spring center to spring center measurement of 80" as shown in the included diagram.

As long as the hub you use has the same bolt pattern as your wheels, you will not need to replace them as trailer wheels typically have 0 offset.

If you can tell me your axle rating and bearing combination, or axle rating and axle dimensions I would be happy to recommend the exact products you will need.

I included a video of the # 7359765 for you to take a look at.
