Hi, I’m looking at buying the Timbren ASR35HDS05 for my trailer. Can brakes be added to this and if so what all do I need? Thanks

Good question, and the answer is yes, you can absolutely add electric brakes to the 3,500 lb Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - 4" Lift Spindle # ASR35HDS05.

This system comes with 4-bolt brake mounting flanges, so the only thing you will need are the correct fitting hub and drum, and the correct fitting brakes. Let's go ahead and start with the hub and drum; what you will need are two (one for each side) of the following:

- Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-5UC3-EZ

Then you will only need the correct electric trailer brakes that fit the hub, along with their mounting hardware:

- Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - Left and Right Hand Assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA
- Mounting Hardware for 10" Brake Assemblies # BRKH10B

So two hub and drums, the brakes, and mounting hardware is going to be all you need for the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR35HDS05. This is a great choice for a suspension system because you get a much improved ride compared to a traditional through-axle. The reason why is the Timbrens work independently so if there is a bump on one side of the road it won't rattle your entire trailer, and because they have progressive springs that absorb shock better than a traditional axle.

Yes, you can use a hub with a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern with the 3,500 lb Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - 4" Lift Spindle # ASR35HDS05.

All you will need is the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-201-5UC3-EZ.

The grease you will want to use with this hub is the LubriMatic Wheel Bearing Grease # L11465.

For wiring you will simply need to use 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 to connect the wires to your junction box like # 3375601100. Electric brakes will also require a breakaway kit, the Tekonsha Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit with Built-In Battery Charger - Top Load # 50-85-313.

I have added links below to some video reviews and a help article on adding electric brakes which you may also find useful.
