Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2009 Mazda 3 Hatchback and Compatibility of Thule Snowboard Carrier

From what I can tell, this is Rola 59831 is the only compatible carrier for a 2009 Mazda 3 S 5 door that will screw directly into the factory mounts and not require additional points going into the windows, correct? They do NOT lock, right? Second question, it appears you do need to cut the stripping away to find the factory mounts? I definitely dont see any thing along the stripping I can open or move. Next question is if its compatible with the Thule 575 Universal Snowboard Carrier? The one that point the boards up and away from the car instead of flat?

There are actually a few roof racks that will attach to the fixed mounting points on your 2009 Mazda 3. If you use the link I provided you will see a list of roof racks. In the installation notes you will see a statement: This system attaches to OEM fixed mounting points on your vehicles roof if attaches to the fixed points.

On the roof of the vehicle there should be a small covering that you will need to slide out to reveal the fixed mounting points on the vehicle roof. Open these covers by pressing down and slide in the direction indicated by the arrow, to expose the anchor points. You do not need to cut away anything to install these racks. If your vehicle does not have factory fixed mounting points then you cannot use this type of roof rack.

The Rola system, # 59715, does not lock.

The Thule snowboard carrier will fit on the Rola bars. I have linked a video review and instructions for this carrier for you.
