Can Dual-Cam Sway Control be Added to a Draw-Tite Round Bar Weight Distribution System

I have a draw tite hitch with round bent downward bars. Will I be able to add on reese or another brand dual cams for sway support. I have the round bars that snap into wd hitch. Also is there application where I dont have to drill the mounts in. Had holes drilled for single friction style sway control and it was a mess. Also I use two different tow vehicles to tow trailer, Is it going to be pain to hook up to the different vehicles.

If your spring bars hang from chains and have the hook end like # RP58114 as an example, then you can add dual cam sway control, # RP26002. Drilling is required and there are no other dual-cam systems from the manufactures we carry that do not require drilling into the trailer frame for installation. I have linked a video and instructions for you. Since the system installs only on the trailer, switching between vehicles will not be a problem

If the dual cam system is not going to work for you I recommend going with the friction bar style like # 83660. It sounds like you have had this type in the past. If the trailer weighs more than 6,000 pounds, 2 units will be needed unless the weight distribution head does not have a hole on each side to add a second unit.

Switching between vehicles with this style sway control is not as easy as the dual cam set up but is not all that involved either. You will just have to disconnect the arm from the ball on the head when you move the shank and head to the other vehicle then reattach the ball.

The other option is to go with a new weight distribution system. There are other options besides dual-cam and friction bar styles like systems from Fastway and Equal-i-zer. I would need to know the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow, plus the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle(s) to recommend the proper sized system.

I have included a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution and sway control for you to view.
