If you don't want to, it is not a necessity to add a roof rack to your 2014 Ford Edge in order to use the Rhino-Rack T-Load Hitch Mounted Load Assist and Support Bar for 2" Hitches # RTL002.
If you'd like to use foam blocks you can absolutely do so, with the Malone Deluxe Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs - Foam Block Style # MPG152.
This will give you the exact set up you are looking for to haul your kayak.
