Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2004 Toyota Tundra with Factory Tow Package

Question:

On your web site you list a brake controller that is compatable for the factory wiring plug/harness for a 2004 Toyota Tundra does this mean all you have to do is mount it, plug it in the harness and it will function?

Expert Reply:

Yes, the # 5100 and # 3040-P brake controller will work after the vehicle specific wiring adapter is wired to the brake controller wires and plugged in to the connector stored near the vehicles emergency brake pedal under the dash, if your Tundra has a factory installed hitch and 7-way connector.

If your Tundra does not have the factory installed options the brake controller will have to be hard wired to the vehicle and you will have to run wires and install a 4-way connector, # 119179KIT and our # ETBC7 brake controller wiring kit.

I have provided links below to the items you will need and to instructions for wiring your vehicle if you need to install the wiring kits.
