Question:
The cross bars on my 2008 ford e250 are the van cross bars. As these are heavy duty bars which roof boxes will attach to these without modification? I have been looking at Yakima and Thule boxes but I am unsure if the latches will work properly on these larger bars.

As long as your bars do not exceed a diameter of 3-3/4" you will be fine to mount the Thule Sidekick # TH78GC to your bars. Pretty much any U-Bolt mounted box will have the largest range of bar sizes that it will fit. With any of the clamp style mounted baskets, you're limited to bars under 2" thick. If your bars are under 2" thick you can go for a clamp mounted box like The Yakima GrandTour # YA74FR or the Thule Force XT # TH6359B.
If your bars are over 2" thick but under 3-3/4" in diameter then you need a U-Bolt style mounted box like the Thule Sidekick.
