Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Spring Recommendation for a 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500

Question:

What is the wieght limit for my truck? Iam looking into buying a trailer that has a dry weight of 4,400. Will these work? Should i buy some leaf springs to help with the weight issue?

The thing about supplemental suspension products is that they will not increase your vehicles weight-carrying capacity. Basically, they let you carry the same amount of weight you could before, but in a much safer way. It is safer in that your ride will be more level and stable.

The reason your capacity is not increased is because suspension is only one component in what determines capacity. You also have to consider the weight capacity of everything from the tires that are on the vehicle to what the brakes are capable of stopping.

So to determine the towing capacity of your 2012 Chevy Silverado you will need to consult your owners manual.

If you determine that the capacity of your vehicle can handle the weight of the 4,400 lb trailer you should check out the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2430. These have a 5,000 lb capacity and should handle the trailer well. Check out the installation instructions I attached for this product.

The Airlift 1000 that you referenced is not confirmed to fit your vehicle so I would not recommend it for you.
