To measure an axle to replace it you can simply measure from the hub face to hub face and then from the spring mount centers. I have attached a diagram for your reference. The diagram gives a measurement example. The other thing to keep in mind is the axle capacity, the new axle needs to be the same capacity as your existing one or higher.
