Will the Tuson DirecLink Controller Work With Pressure Transducer On 2006 Chevy Silevardo 3500
Published 03/29/2020
Question:
I have had a Max-Brake controller system in my 2006 Silverado 3500 since Ive owned the vehicle. The controller stopped working. I notice this DirectLink has 3 ports like the output of the pressure transducer that I already have installed. Can the DirectLink use the transducer for true proportional braking?

The Tuson DirecLink Base Model Trailer Brake Controller part # 335DL-100 is an excellent top of the line option for a 2006 Chevrolet Silevrado 3500. It is a proportional brake controller which means it senses the deceleration of the tow vehicle and then applies a corresponding voltage to the trailer brakes. That said, this feature is controlled by an internal inertia sensor not a pressure transducer like your existing brake controller uses. The vast majority of electric trailer brake controllers nowadays use the internal inertia sensor since it's a much easier installation. The technology behind the internal inertia sensor has come a long way over the years so the functionality has matched that of a pressure transducer.
Therefore, the Tuson DirecLink Base Model Trailer Brake Controller would still work for you but you wouldn't reuse the pressure transducer. Please note, you will also need the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers part # 3015-S for installation.
