Is Yakima OverHaul HD Ladder Rack Compatible with Truck Hero TS T-Slot Rails for 2019 Ford Ranger

Question:

Do you think that the 1118358 TS T-Slot Rails for Truck Hero Elevate Rack System would work with Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack?

I got in touch with my contact at Truck Hero and confirmed that the correct size TS (T-Slot) Rails for Truck Hero Elevate Rack System for your 2019 Ford Ranger with the 5 foot bed are the 56 inch long, # TH85FR (Truck Hero part number 1118329), designed for compact trucks, like yours. The 63 inch TS rails # TH75FR (Truck Hero part number 1118358), in the kit you referenced, are designed for full size trucks instead.

After reaching out to Yakima, and based on the dimensional information I gathered, I believe the two products can work together. The T-bolts are not the issue, since those are pretty much universal and you would easily be able to slide them inside the tracks of the TS Rails, but the pads on the adapter kit included with the Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack for Tonneau Covers # Y01151-5755 may or may not fit completely flush on top of the TS rails, which only add about 1/2 inch of height to the top of your truck bed rails. The Yakima pads are made out of rubber, so they are very flexible but you may still need to shave a bit from the bottom to achieve the best fit.

Please keep in mind that Yakima has only tested the Overhaul HD to work with the RetraxONE XR Hard Tonneau Cover w/ Trax Rails # RTT-60335, Pace Edwards UltraGroove Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-KRFA30A61, both of which are custom for your truck, and the Ford Embark LS OEM tonneau.

Question:

Thanks Carla, this answer is very helpful. I have a follow up question. I am looking at buying the Bakflip MX4 tonneau. Do you think that the angled uprights on the Yakima Overhau HD will interfere with the MX4 folding up properly?

The BAKFlip MX4 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK448332, uses its own rail system. The passenger and driver side MX4 rails sit right on top of your truck bed rail caps, and use two clamps on each side to attach to the lip on the underside of the bed rails.

The Yakima OverHaul HD ladder rack either installs on a T-track rail system, like the one on the RetraxONE XR # RTT-60335, or the traditional way, by clamping to your Ranger's bed rails, which is in theory how you'd need to install the ladder rack, since the MX4 does not feature a track system.

Because the MX4 and the OverHaul HD use the same mounting locations, it would not be possible to install them both on your truck. Additionally, the OverHaul's pads or bases, also take up about 1-1/2 inches inside of your bed, interfering with the cover.

To be able to install the # Y01151-5755, you'd need to use one of the tonneau covers with T-tracks mentioned in the original answer.

Is there any Yakima rack that will fit with the Bak X4 Revolver tonneau cover? 81324

Reply from Chris R.

At this time there isn't a Yakima rack that's designed to work with the BAK Revolver X4 Cover. There are a couple of ladder racks that will work really well though. If you can tell me what model truck you have I will be happy to make a specific recommendation. 66925

@ChrisR Yes thank you...I have a 2020 Chevy Trail Boss crew cab. 66926

@Jesus Perfect, thanks! For your Silverado I highly recommend the Thule TracRac SR; part # TH43002XT-782 if you have the 5-3/4 foot bed, part # TH43002XT-781 if you have the 6-1/2 foot bed, or # TH43002XT-780 if you have the 8 foot bed. These install right on top of the bed rails so won't interfere at all with the BAK Revolver X4 Cover. 67206
