Reducing Heat Inside Horse Trailer

Trying to cool off my horse trailer for horses. Thought about Flettner ventaler also. Installed fans big waste of money. Trailer still hot. Trailer is factory insulated. Has plenty of window but are siliders that only open half way. Love my trailer except for this Hugh problem. Please give me your expert advise. M

The Flettner is an interesting option for sure. Pop up roof vents over the heads of each horse like the Ventline Ventadome Trailer Roof Vent # V2110SP-24 will also help the air flow so they can stay cool. This may be a significant modification but is another option to compensate for the half open slider window limitation.

While you're trailer is insulated and this may not be an issue, sometimes heat generated from under the trailer can contribute to heat buildup inside, especially with aluminum floors, walls, and roofs that transfer heat well. Ribbed Rubber Trailer Mat # 4872SM could be used to block that transfer. These are installed with nail, tack, or glue to your trailer and are another consideration.

Some other considerations include using the trailer only earlier or later in the day with short breaks so only when temps are lower and reducing heat buildup at stops. Included is a video overview of the vents for additional information.
