How Much Grease To Use when Installing Bearing Buddies on a 1997 Jayco Pop Up Camper

I am putting in new bearing #L44649 inner and out and new seal. Watched your How to video on replacing bearing and seals. In your video it shows how to repack the bearings, replace your seals and about how much grease to use. OK I was reading the Bearing Buddy installation and it tells you to fill the hubs completely with a high quality, multipurpose #2 grade lubricant. I thought you just repack the bearings and use some grease inside the hub not filling it all the way? So which way is right? I have a 1997 Jayco Pop Up Camper with 12 x 5.30 tires with 4x4 bolt holes, the weight is I think around 1200lbs. So do I repack the bearing and only put some grease in the hub and then put the Bearing Buddy on and use grease gun to fill the space in the Bearing Buddy or fill hub and repack bearings and use grease gun to fill the rest like the Bearing Buddy tells you to do? I have to say I love your How to videos, they are a big help to me to check to make sure I am doing stuff right! It doesnt hurt to recheck on how to do something! You can always learn something new!

Your Bearing Buddy instructions are correct. When installing bearing protectors on a trailer hub, you will want to fill the hub with as much grease as possible, so that you do not have to pump all that grease into the hub with the grease gun after installing the bearings and seals. This also helps to prevent pressure build up in the hub and blow out of the seal in the back of the hub.

When using a bearing protector you should always use a double lip seal, like part # RG06-020, which has two sealing lips and a spring to keep tension of the spindle and help keep pressure from adding grease from blowing out the back of the seal.

Our video showing the bearing installation, see link, is also correct for installation of bearings on a trailer that is not going to have bearing protectors installed in the hub.
