Differences In 7-Way Diagram vs Connector Diagram On Vehicle Hitch Cover

Question:

The schematic on the outside cover of the 7-pin connector appears 180 degrees different from your schematics. I’m confused. The Ground pin on my oem 7pin connector on my 2014 F-350 is white cable and is the 10 o’clock position. The outside cover shows this too. Why the difference in your diagrams?

The colors provided in the diagrams are a guide but as you noted, your colors may be different. Because wire colors can vary, they are not as reliable for determining functions.

It is also recommended that a circuit tester like Circuit Tester Kit # C73NR be used on the tow vehicle's wiring harness to verify that the correct wire has been located for the proper function. Also to ensure that your trailer connector is wired properly, we recommend using a circuit tester to match pins by function there too.
