Question:
Hi, I purchased a roof-top cargo box a while ago that didnt come with keys. Id like to be able to lock the box. I took the lock cylinder to a locksmith who gave me a blank look so I thought maybe theres an expert at etrailer and hopefully even replacement parts that you guys can help me with. Ive looked at the cylinder a thousand times to look for markings or numbers but I really cant find anything. However, possibly an optical illusion, I do see an M6 on the very end of the cylinder, which doesnt make a lot of sense. Do you sell a replacement cylinder? Any idea what cargo box I bought based on the photo? Dimensions are about 88 x 28 x 16. Let me know if there are any other details I can provide. Thanks in advance!

I honestly have not seen a cargo box that looks like this one so I'm not able to track down what model it is or who might be the manufacturer. I did check with a couple of of different brands but wasn't able to find anything - even older models - that looked similar to what you have.
You may be able to use a replacement lock core and key like the SportRack # SR03807 to add a new lock core but it will likely take a bit of modification.
Otherwise if you aren't able to locate any markings on the box itself that indicate a model/brand then your best option for a locking unit is going to be with a brand new cargo box. For a similarly sized cargo box I recommend taking a look at the SportRack Horizon Rooftop Cargo Box # SR7011, which measures 88-1/2 inches long, 21 inches wide, 15 inches tall. It has a nice aerodynamic shape for a quiet ride.
I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.
