Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier Recommendation to Carry a Load of 415 lbs on Rough Roads

I need to carry 415 lbs of weight. This is rated at 450 but will it hold up with a constant load of 415 pounds on rough roads?

If you are planning on carrying a load of 415 lbs on a cargo carrier on rough roads, then you will want a cargo carrier that is rated significantly higher than your load weight. The downward force of the load after a bump could exceed the 450 lb weight capacity of the Carpod Walled Cargo Carrier, # M2200-01-02, and cause damage.

I would recommend the etrailer Railed Cargo Carrier, # e98874 for a folding option or the # C18152 for the non-folding option. These carriers have a weight capacities of 500 lbs and are both constructed of steel. Be sure you check the tongue weight capacity of your hitch and vehicle so you do not exceed the lowest rated capacity.

You may also want the Anti-Rattle Device and Lock, # SR25219, to secure your cargo carrier to your trailer hitch. The anti-rattle feature would reduce some of the shock on the shank of the carrier.
