Is Tightening Knob Required to Fit Thule SquareBars to Specialty Railing Rack

Hello. I previously asked about compatibility of #TH712400 cross bars with the #TH440 specialty foot packs and the answer was they would work. My current #TH440 and bar setup has #753-1755 all around. My question is, do I need #753-1755 for the #TH440 system to work? Two of my old #753-1755 end caps/tightening tool are damaged. After I add the #TH712400 bars to the #TH440 footpacks, can I just apply the included caps that come with the bars — after tightening with and removing the tightening knob — instead of using #753-1755 all around? Thanks.

Yes, for the Foot # 753-3603 to stay secured to the SquareBar # TH712400 and to keep the foot from opening up you need to install the Knob # 753-1755. I reached out to my contact at Thule who confirmed this.

If you want to add matching lock cores to your current tightening knobs then you can search our site using part number THLOCKN*** where the *** stands for the number of your current lock cores. You will need the Universal Change Key # 853-1251 to install these lock cores.
