Where to Mount and Install a Brake Controller on a 2019 Ford Explorer

Looking at the Hayes Genesis Trailer Brake Controller URL: For my 2019 Ford Explorer Sport. Is this for the controller and harness cable? How hard is it to find where to plug it into the wiring harness? I havent looked at where to mount it yet, any popular places for this vehicle?

If you already have a tow package you can use the custom adapter # HA81783-HBC, otherwise you need a Universal Wiring Adapter for Hayes Trailer Brake Controllers # HA81789-HBC to complete this portion of your install. The helpful review video at the 9:55 mark shows you where to find the port on your vehicle to plug the controller in. While this is a different controller referenced, it shows you where to find the connector in your Ford Explorer. It is a bit hidden under the dash underneath the panels. A popular place to mount the controller is to the underside of the dash, easily within reach. This location is also referenced in the video.

If you haven't setup the rear of the tow vehicle, I recommend the # ETBC7 kit to set you up for both 4 and 7 pole trailer connectors compatible with this brake controller. The below installation video is a thorough walk through of what's needed and how to install.
