Question:
I want to get rid of my Husky round bar WDH and purchase the Equalizer WDH. I tow with a ‘18 Ram 2500 with factory ride height. Does the Equalizer’s standard shank offer the proper amount of or will I need to purchase an additional shank?

To determine if the drop of Equalizer's standard shank is sufficient for your tow vehicle and trailer combination, you need to measure from the ground to bottom of the coupler. Then do the same from the ground to the top of the receiver on your Ram 2500. If your hitch height is greater than your coupler by more than 3 inches, a larger shank is needed.
The Equalizer adjustable shank that comes with # EQ37120ET has a maximum rise of 7 inches and a maximum drop of 3 inches. An adjustable shank like Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank Item # EQ90-02-4300 provides a maximum rise of 10 inches from top of hitch receiver opening and a maximum drop of 6 inches from top of hitch receiver opening to provide more rise or drop if needed.
If that is not sufficient, you can look at a drop only shank like the Reese Weight Dist Shank - Drop Only # RP3344 providing up to a maximum drop of 8 5/8 inches. To determine how to make these measurements, the below help article provides the steps necessary.
The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems are really top notch with point sway control using clamp on brackets, has an adjustable head, and heavy duty spring bars providing that constant tension keeping your trailer in line. The Thin Walled Socket for Equal-i-zer Hitches Item # EQ70-00-4800 is usually a good item to pick up as well.

Thank you. Is the Equalizer hitch available with a 2.5” shank?
