When Using HaulGauge For Multiple Vehicles Does It Need to be Calibrated Every Time

have 01 Ranger, 08 Linc MKX, 13 F150. Does the unit need to recalibrate itself each time I change vehicles or for even each time I use it?

I reached out to my contact at HaulGauge regarding the Mobile Tongue Weight and Payload Scale # HG103.

The first thing he wanted me to note is that while there is a better chance that pre-2008 model vehicles will need to be manually calibrated when plugging in the unit it's certainly not guaranteed. There's still a decent chance that the HaulGauge will be able to automatically pull vehicle information as soon as it's plugged into the OBD II port on both your 2001 Ranger and 2008 Lincoln MKX.

Now if you do have to manually calibrate the unit on one or both vehicles, the information will be stored on the app so that when you unplug it and plug it back in you don't have to calibrate it each time. As of right now though only one set of vehicle information can be stored on the app (they are working on being able to add different profiles).

So my contact's best recommendation for now, if you have to manually calibrate both vehicles, is to use a different phone for each one. I'm not sure if one of the vehicles you mentioned is yours and one belongs to a different family member but if this is the case then it might be easy enough to simply calibrate the device using whoever's phone the vehicle belongs to. My contact says this is what he actually does with his and his wife's vehicles.

Lastly, my contact also said that if you need to calibrate your vehicle, they can actually get the information added to their database within about 2 weeks. Simply email them directly to let them know and they will work to have it added to the system. Once it's in their database the unit can be plugged in and automatically synced thereafter without having to worry about manual calibration.
