Highest Capacity and 10-Ply Rated ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire

Question:

The LHWL304 has a 2830 lb. rating. In a 15inch tire, is this the highest rating? Im assuming this is 10 ply rated tire? Although this tire is within the 10,000 lb. load range, I like extra capacity. Thanks

Yes, the 2830 lb rating on the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire part # LHWL304 is the highest rated capacity and load range (load range E) we offer in 15 inch tires. The Westlake is a 10 ply rated tire and one of the higher quality brands of tires we carry because of its tread design. The Westlake tires are constructed of double steel belts and polyester cords with short broken up tread ribs in the rubber. The shorter tread ribs create more traction compared to tires with long continuous tread. They also come with a free 2 year roadside assistance program.

Another option is to upgrade your tires to a larger size if you have the clearance. I recommend 16 inch Premium Trailer Contender ST235/80R16 part # PTC23516E with a 3,520 lb rating. This tire is also a 10-ply rated tire. The ST235/80R16 outer diameter is 30.79 inches and the section width is 9.25" compared to the ST225/75R15 which has a outer diameter of 28.3 inches and a section width of 8.8 inches. We do recommend to have at least 4 inches of clearance between the tire tread and the fenders and at least 1 to 2 inches between the side wall and inside of the wheel well so that is something to keep in mind when upgrading tires. You also need a 16 inch wheel to use these tires.
