Should I Be Able to Get Full Voltage from Hayes Genesis Brake Controller When Pressing Brake Pedal

Question:

When applying my trucks brakes, the brake controller only goes up to 10. I have tried to adjust the max power to a higher setting, and it looks like it is taking the changes I have made, I press the +inch button, then update the max power, to 95 in some of my testing, but when I use the trucks brakes, the power reading never goes over 10. It does go up when I manually override the brake, with the slide control on the controller. I can feel the trailer brakes apply when I manually override the slide.

The Hayes Genesis part # HA81790 is a proportional controller so the only way you'll see the max output level of the controller with the brake pedal of your vehicle will be if the controller senses you slamming on the brakes as hard as possible basically. It has an internal inertia sensor that is designed determine how hard you are applying the vehicle brakes and apply the trailer brakes with the same intensity.

It sounds like the controller is actually working like it's supposed to.

I attached a review video for more info on this controller for you to check out as well.
