How to Carry Bikes With 2008 BMW M3

Can you please tell me if this trailer hitch will also fit the 2008 BMW M3? All of your reviews are for the regular E90 3 series, so Id like to confirm. Best!

While there is a solution for you to carry cargo with your 2008 BMW M3, the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24857 will not fit your vehicle; I checked with the hitch manufacturers for you and there is not a trailer hitch that will fit your car.

That said, if you are simply looking to use the hitch in order to carry bikes with your '08 M3 you can do so whether it is a Coupe or Sedan with a trunk-mounted bike rack and I highly recommend the Kuat Highline for this because it excels at keeping your car looking as elegant as when you bought it but it is also very good at doing its main job, which is to transport bikes.

The Kuat Highline is available in two colors, Black # HIT2B or Silver # HIT2S, and uses anti-sway cradles which keep the bikes from contacting one another or your BMW. The rack has another unique way of protecting your car, as it comes with four clear protective strips (which you can see in the accompanying photo) that you place on the rack where it will come into contact with your BMW. These strips work as a buffer to prevent your car from even getting a slight scuff.

This rack attaches to your BMW with six cam-buckle straps that have padded hooks on them which will also prevent any type of damage to your car. It has a 35 lb per-bike capacity, weighs only 13 lbs so it is very easy to handle and comes with a lifetime warranty, which speaks to its durability.

To help protect your investments I recommend using the Security Strap for Trunk Mounted Bike Carriers # TH533 to help lock the rack to your car, and the Saris Cable Lock # SA981 to lock your bikes to the rack. The only other thing to keep in mind is that when using a hanging rack you'll need bike frame adapter bar # UB01 if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack.

I have added links to video reviews of the Highline # HIT2B and # HIT2S for you to take a look at, as well as links to reviews of the locks and adapter bar.
