Will the Hitch Ball Hole for the Reese Elite Match the B&W Turnoverball on a 2012 Ram 2500

Question:

I just recently purchased #RP30158-52 for my 2012 Ram 2500 with ram boxes. I have looked at the installation instructions and had a question about the location of the gooseneck hole location. Will the hole location be different for a 6’ 4” bed? The instructions give hole location measurements for 8’ and 6’ beds. Just curious because the 44 1/16” measurement for the 6’ bed from the instructions doesn’t line up with the hole that was cut for the BandW that was previously installed?

The hole for the gooseneck hitch ball while using the Reese Elite Series Underbed Gooseneck Trailer part # RP30158-52 will indeed need to be drilled 44-1/16" forward from the rear edge of the bed. The instructions state this if for a 6' bed but that is referring to the 6'4" bed on your Ram 2500.

Unfortunately, the hole for the gooseneck hitch ball on the Reese Elite Series Underbed Gooseneck Trailer is not going to match the one you have now for the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch but it will be close. The B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # BWGNRK1313 calls for 45-1/2" from the center of the hole for the gooseneck hitch ball to the edge of the bed.

Please also note that because you have the RamBox, your choice of compatible 5th wheel hitches will be severely limited, I recommend the Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30142 or part # RP30871 as we have confirmed these to allow for the proper clearance needed with the RamBox. A rotating pin box such as the Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret part # RP61421 will also be needed.
