Updated 04/08/2019 | Published 04/05/2019 >
Question:
When my trailer is sitting level on a level floor, the equalizer on one side tilts toward the front of the trailer while the opposite side tilts toward the rear. What would cause this condition?

If you are sure that the trailer is on level ground then there is most likely an issue with the suspension setup that's causing the equalizers to tilt in opposite directions on both sides of the trailer. I recommend making sure that the axle is square to the trailer frame.
To check this what you can do is take a measurement from each end of the axle up to the coupler. You want these 2 measurements to match but if you find they're different then the axle needs to be repositioned. You may want to take the trailer up to a local shop if this is the case or even to just have them inspect other suspension components if you do find the measurements to be the same.
Basically there has to be something "off" on the trailer for the equalizers to be oriented in this way on level ground. You might also inspect the leaf springs to make sure they are the proper size on both sides.
