Best Way to Carry Cargo with 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Question:

How do you use the Yakima DryTop Cargo Bag with a naked roof if you have a mini van with a sliding door on both sides? I have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and im looking to take a trip and would like to use this but I dont know if it is possible with the sliding doors. Thanks for any information.

For a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica that has dual sliding doors the Yakima DryTop Rooftop Cargo Bag # Y07404 is not an ideal option - dual sliding doors are prone to cause interference.

The best way for you to carry cargo on an '18 Pacifica is by using a trailer hitch and hitch-mounted cargo carrier because it will give you plenty of room to carry a large amount of cargo and is simple to use.

The trailer hitch I highly recommend for your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica is the Draw-Tite # 76046 because it has a concealed crosstube and is a bolt-on installation that will not require drilling into your vehicle's frame to install.

This Class III, 2" trailer hitch is almost entirely hidden behind your bumper, as you can see by the accompanying photos of this hitch installed on an '18 Pacifica. I have also added a link to a video of the hitch being installed on this minivan for you to take a look at.

The Draw-Tite # 76046 is for the NON-hybrid model of 2018 Pacifica; if yours is a hybrid you will need the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76046-SK which is also a Class III, 2" hitch.

For a cargo carrier I recommend the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18153 because it has a large amount of space for cargo, a 2" rise in the shank for additional ground clearance, and can be folded up when not in use. You would need Pin and Clip # PC3 to secure the carrier to your hitch or Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 to secure it to your hitch and stop it from rattling.

I do recommend using the Curt Cargo Bag # C18211 to store your cargo in the carrier. This is a waterproof bag that has 15 cubic feet of cargo space, which is nearly as much as the Yakima bag you were looking at. The Curt Cargo Bag attaches to the cargo carrier with its integrated straps.

I have added links to video reviews of the carrier and cargo bag for you to check out.
