Installaton of Curt Discovery Trailer Brake Controller on 2015 GMC Yukon

Question:

We have a 2015 GMC Yukon SLT 4WD I have connected the Curt Discovery 51120 to the Curt adapter 51452. Using only pictures I have found in several locations I managed to get everything connected how I think its supposed to go. I get a dot when no trailer is connected. Once we connect a trailer we are still getting a dot. The trailer is new and works on our friends truck. Our trailer plug in has never been used and has clean original manufacturer lubrication still on it. What else are we missing? A local person is saying our BCM needs flashed, but I think that is false. Please help.

I assume you have the factory tow package on your 2015 GMC Yukon and if so the correct wiring adapter for your 2015 GMC Yukon to install the Curt Discovery Trailer Brake Controller # C51120 is the Curt Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers # C51451; this would be all you need and if you have something different that may be why you are having this issue.

If you do not have the factory tow package on your 2015 Yukon, to install the Curt Discovery Trailer Brake Controller # C51120 on your Yukon would need a 4-way installed, part # 119147KIT and you would also need Replacement Custom Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connectors # 30955 along with Universal Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers # C51515 which would splices into your GMC's wiring.

Either way you are not going to get anything flashed by the dealership, so were correct in assuming that was false. I have added links to some video reviews for you to check out as well as brake controller help articles that I recommend looking over.
