How to Determine Correct Electric Brakes for 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

Hello, I am looking to replace the brakes on my 5th wheel and am not quite sure which to get. The axle is a AL-KO T52 4400lb. The hub says AL-KO 8460 max diameter of 12.090. The bearings are 25580 inner and 15123 outer. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

I assume you are looking for electric brakes and for a drum with a 4,400 lb axle that has a 12 inch diameter a great option is the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 12" # AKEBRK-7-SA. These are rated for more than your axle's capacity but the only brakes available for 4,400 lb axles are 10" such as the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # K23-478-479.

You do need to make sure you have a 5-bolt mounting flange bolt pattern; it will also require Mounting Hardware # BRKH12 to install this kit.

I have added links to a review and install of this kit as well as a link to a help article which details exactly what you need to install electric trailer brakes that I highly recommend checking out.
