Best Bike Rack for E-Bike with Fenders

Question:

My bike has fenders as it is a touring e bike. Will this rack still work? Ive observed that you need to fix it to the top of the tire near the fork for stability, but my fenders will be in the way? Can you use it on the bike directly? Thanks for the response

I do have an option for you but since your e-bike has fenders, the Thule T1 1-Bike Platform Rack part # TH9041 will not work for you. Instead, I recommend the Rola Convoy 1 Bike Platform Rack part # 59307 which can be used as a frame mount bike rack and has a 50 lb weight capacity.

The best thing about this bike rack is that you can carry more bikes if you would like by adding the 1 Bike Add-On for Rola Convoy Platform Rack part # 59310. The Convoy has a tilting feature that will allow for access to the rear cargo area without having to remove the rack and it comes with a five year warranty. I have attached a review video for you as well.

Question:

Thanks for your response. I was wondering if the Saris Freedom EX2 work? Is the receptacle that holds the down tube large enough to accommodate a down tube battery girth? Or could it be locked to the top tube?

The down tube on your e-bike is more than likely too large for the Saris Freedom EX 2 Bike Platform Rack part # SA4412F but you should be able to use the top tube to secure the bike therefore, the Freedom EX 2 should work for you but as we have not test yet tested it with your specific bike, I cannot be 100% certain.

Question:

After research I realized that the EX2 won’t work for my bike. I just didn’t like the build quality and ease of use of the one you proposed - Rola Convoy especially if I had to tilt it. Probably I may be off base there. Please let me know the other options that I have to carry this bike around safely. Thanks.

If the Rola Convoy 1 Bike Platform Rack part # 59307 is not to your liking then we do not have any other solo bike carriers that will work for you. However, you can use a two bike rack and just place your bike on the spot closest to the vehicle. If you ever need to carry two bikes then you would already be set but if not then the spot can remain empty. In regards to the type of bike carrier that is compatible, it will need to be a platform bike rack rated for e-bikes that attaches to the bike via the top tube. I have attached a list of these options for you but I really like the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 2-Electric Bike Platform Rack part # HR1460Z-E.

The Sport Rider SE2 has an 80 lb per bike weight capacity, lifetime warranty, works with both class II 1-1/4" and class III 2" trailer hitch receivers, folds up while not in use, and comes with both hitch/bike locks. I have attached a review video for you as well.
